A Makiki Community Cleanup

Today, I got to help with a service project to help clean up Makiki
District Park and the Makiki Community Library (
This is part of the national day of service held to honor Rev. Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. and his legacy. Today's cleanup was organized
by Rep. Della Au Belatti ( and the
Friends of the Makiki Community Library
(, but wouldn't have been a success
without the dozens of volunteers (most of them students) from
Roosevelt, Maryknoll, and Mid-Pac - as well as the community members
who came out to help.

It's great to see Hawaii's next generation of leaders are already
taking a hands-on interest in bettering our community.

And if you didn't see my Tweet, here's a post I wrote 2 years ago, but
it's still good: Martin Luther King: “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop”

Don't forget to visit for a regular dose of my take on things
