A Makiki Community Cleanup

Today, I got to help with a service project to help clean up Makiki
District Park and the Makiki Community Library (http://makiki.info).
This is part of the national day of service held to honor Rev. Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. and his legacy. Today's cleanup was organized
by Rep. Della Au Belatti (http://twitter.com/repbelatti) and the
Friends of the Makiki Community Library
(http://twitter.com/fmcl_makiki), but wouldn't have been a success
without the dozens of volunteers (most of them students) from
Roosevelt, Maryknoll, and Mid-Pac - as well as the community members
who came out to help.

It's great to see Hawaii's next generation of leaders are already
taking a hands-on interest in bettering our community.

And if you didn't see my Tweet, here's a post I wrote 2 years ago, but
it's still good: Martin Luther King: “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop”
